Hello from Sunny Florida

Hello all, just thought I would say HI!

I became a member today and have already made one Newbie post.

I aquired 2 absolutely beautiful Sun Conures yesterday. They came with a HUGE cage and lots of toys. I can't wait to get home and play with them.

Here is a picture. Thanks guys!

Thank you! I was told they are 11 months old.

A quick question for someone if they don't mind. One has a band around it's leg, the other does not. Do you guys recommend removing the band?

Thanks!

Some people do recommend removing the band as if it's an open band, especially, it can get caught on this and cause problems. Then again, it's also an effective way to identify a bird, if it ever gets lost, saying that if someone found the bird, they might look for its owner and know who it was, that is, if they were sensitive enough to check to see if the bird had an owner, and whether or not they chose to leave the band on for identification...

Each thing has its good and bad points...

Welcome to Birdboard! I saw your post in the conure section-you have two beautiful babies there! I like bands for the security reasons. If your birds ever got out and they were found, having a leg band is a deterent to anyone who would be tempted to keep the bird and not give it back. Also, some bird clubs track rings and who owns the bird so they could help too. Of course the best thing is to not let your birds escape!

Hi there! A fellow Floridian here!
KEEP the bands....my african grey got out in May and I have not been able to locate him.

Thinking about a sun conure......one landed on me at discovery cove and stayed there, and i didn't even have any food! He was gentle and just a really nice bird.
Heard they can be noisy though....??

My friend just got an indian ringneck named it Kai, which means ocean...and it's blue.
I don't know much about indian ringnecks.
Nice to meet you!!

Nice to meet you too. Where at in FL? Yes the birds can be lous which I suspect is why the people sold them to me so cheap but I guess with a little training they should be just fine.

It's funny that you mention Discovery Cove and Conures, have you seen this article?
