hello again
Hola Birdboard people!
Probably nobody here remembers me. I joined months and months ago, posted a couple of times, and just haven't been back. I am desperate for a great place to come and talk about all kinds of birds, so I'm going to give this another shot. My name is Alika... obviously. I've been on this journey in birds for about two years now. I've ended up with three fids of my own and a career in bird training and education. My fids are Cami, a 2-year-old cockatiel, Beeper, a 9-year-old senegal parrot, and Sam, a 17-year-old blue fronted amazon. Beeper and Sam were both rescues, and I wouldn't trade them for the world. I work at an aviary... a sort of bird zoo. Essentially, I help care for the birds in our education collection, assist in some training, and use the birds in education programs and bird shows. We have a variety of birds from parrots and raptors to emus and toucans and even an ibis coming into our collection this fall. Welcome to the board. Oh, and I want to play with your bird. What an awesome looking eagle. I love watching them while out at the lakes here in Arizona.

Welcome back. Of course you must certainly realize that you are living a lot of people's dreams. Do you get to train the raptors too or just take care of feeding and cleaning cages? Awesome photo.

Thanks for the welcome.
I love the raptors, but they're not nearly as fun and interactive as the parrots :) I do get to help train a little. Most of my job is educating the public through the programs and shows that we do. That eagle flies in our birdshow... one of the only flighted captive bald eagles in the country. She's a good bird.
