Welcome to Birdboard. Boy, you really do have a lot on your plate. Are you in high school?
Perhaps if you give us an idea what state you reside in, someone here may even have a spare budgie cage. You just never know. I love American Saddlebreds. When I was younger, my girlfriend's dad raced sulkies here in Maryland.

Wow, that's quite a lot! Sounds like quite a busy life! I would suggest however to remove the mirror from your budgies cage, since mirrors can cause mental problems. It would be far better to buy your current budgie a friend than giving her a mirror.

busy
Alright, that is alot of action going on around you...whew I'm tired just reading it.
You have lots of interests that is great! I'd like chickens one day..the fuzzy(furry) looking kind. We used to have Bamtans(sp) when I was a kid what nice birds they were. What do you do with all the eggs they must lay??? |

Oh yeah! And I work at the local movie theater. How could I have forgotten that?! Yes, I am in high school too.
And if mirrors cause mental problems, then my little girlie should be real messed up. I think half of her toys have mirrors. I think I'm just going to suck it up and buy a cage. I can afford it, however much I don't want to spend any thing. I guess you could say I'm not a typical teenager. I have several hundred dollars in my bank account, and don't want to spend a dime. It's only because of what I want when I "grow up". I've been meaning to get a cage, but like I said, I can't find one I like. Well, there are a few at one pet store. Nonetheless, I love my little Mokey. I had to put a snap on her cage door when she has to be inside else she just flips it open. She pretty much sticks to the cage top all day long, playing with her wind chimes. She jumps to my arm and rides around on my shoulder and in my hair. She is very opinionated and still bites, though not as hard as she used to. I will have had her a year come December 7th. I need to buy my love birds some things too. Up until two days ago they didn't even have a perch. And we have had them since what... May, I think? My freaking sister only gave them to me bacause they interrupted her sleeping all day. Would loveirds like Cozy Sacks? Mine are cuddly once they figure out that they are not going to escape my hand. As for my chicken dears, they are still babies, most of them, and only now the males have tried crowing. This is the best time. Their screams are so cute. And they are very fuzzy. They are the ones with the afros. Also, the polish are non-layers so I won't have to worry about eggs much. The dogs, which thankfully don't touch my lovelies, take care of any eggs that they may find. I love my schedule though. If I didn't have all this to do I would just sit in the house and watch Animal Planet and Mythbusters all day long. Luckily there is never a dull moment. And if there is I can go out in the field and play with the baby horses. We have some of the freakiest looking colts this year. A black filly, a hackney pony filly, a chestnut sweetheart who I call Scooby, and a dark grey colt(Casper or Traveller, we don't know yet) who was as red as a sunset when he was born, who walks like the ground is not good enough for him.

I'm not sure, yet. Do you know of any grood starter turtles? I was thinking slider, painted, or musk. I'm doing my research now before I do anything though. Like any beginner, I want something small, hardy, and easy to take care of. Like, for me, with birds, my first bird I didn't want to be something like an Amazon or even a conure, I wanted to start with a parakeet and build up.

So your looking at water turtles...hhmm. You must have at least 50 gallon tank for 2 max, they can dirty the water very quickly, so a great filter is a must, plus a shelf where they can get out and bask, so a good UVB/UVA light is also required. I have my red ears setup outside in a 100 gallon pond for the summer and every year they have 2 babies! I find the babies the following year, they are so cute when they are small. In the winter I bring them into the washroom and have a spare pond there for them. I use a tank heater that is set into a 2Liter coke bottle because they love to break the heaters. Personally, I would go with a land turtle, such as a box or eastern, they too require a large tank and lighting but are easier (to me) to keep clean. Plus you can let them walk around your house. My eastern had 8 babies this year, they are in an outside pen where the adults will hibernate for the winter. Babies have to come in as their first winter is their hardest and I want them to survive and be bigger when I put them out. All of my turtles are rescues, I've had them for at least 10 years. You can email me if you want to chat more.
