Not long ago a man was arrested at the border for trying to cross 150 parrots from Vera Cruz, Mexico. They were all Amazons which is probably why they are declining in the wild. He's doing time in prison and all of the birds were returned to their native environment by an ecology group. Well, I know Horacio was born and bred here, but Lolita might be wild. At least her social skills leave a lot to be desired. She is really good about getting out of her cage and climbing to the perch on top. She'll do anything for her seeds. She waves and chirps about 90 miles an hour just to get her seeds. Now she's learned to go in a circle. And she doesn't bite.

Before she'd fake like she was going for the seed, and then bite my finger.
I have no idea how much Horacio weighs, but he looks a little bigger than "D". Then again, it might just be feathers. He fluffs a lot. I never thought I'd be such a bird lover as my Mom is birdaphobic. Something about a nursery rhyme she learned about birds pecking out your eyes.

BAD RHYME!!!

I'm a real dog lover and one day my mother-in-law told me, "You know how you love dogs? Well, that's how I love birds." She's so sweet, and I just had to get her some birds. Now we have a flock. We had more, but they find very creative ways of flying the coop. She turns 79 next week, so we have to cherish all the bird time we can share. She loves to see the pictures on Birdboard, especially "D".
Well, have a great week. I'll look for you later on.
Hugs and Parrot Pecks,
Elena
Horatio is quite the looker, but alas it must be a long distance romance as I don't believe I will be able to bring her across the border to see ya'll. LOL Just kidding. I don't plan to put D into a breeding situation. I think there is another person on this board with a red lored amazon. How large is Horatio? He looks huskier than D. She weighed in this month at 360gms. She is quite petite, but I don't know what the average weight for the breed is.
