Hi Ana,
My husband was born in Rota, Spain on the U.S. Navy base there. Are you close to that area?
Your babies are very beautiful! We have an African Grey Timneh currently and unfortunatly we also have lost an African Grey (also a TAG) last October. We also have a Green Cheek Conure, much the size of your Oddie.
Welcome,
Angie

Bienvenidos! Your birds are lovely and we are delighted to have you join us. I'm sorry about your African gray. I fell in love with the bird markets on La Rambla in Barcelona last year -- it is a good thing I couldn't fit any birds in my luggage!

Thank catschair. I went to Barcelona this summer, because there I meet friends of parrots, "Parrotadict" jeje. I advise to you that the rambla isn't a good place for buy a parrot...The health of they are bad, and a lot of they are captured...bad bad...

LoroAdictos: Web de loros, psitácidos, psitácidas.Loro - Inicio --> this is one website of parrots in Spain.

I hope to know more of you! And more of your parrots!

Welcome to BB! Sorry about your grey...

Lineolated Parakeet - Bolborhynchus Lineola - aka Linnies for short

Black Capped Conure - Pyrrhura rupicola

Fischer Lovebird - Agapornis fischeri

You've got gorgeous birds! I know what you mean however about aviculture in different countries.... some countries are more advanced in aviculture/parrot keeping than others... and yet, some still seem to be in the "stone age".

Hello everyone!

Sorry for my...later? jeje sorry...

Thanks for your words!

In Spain the aviculture are in the "stone of age" jeje, no, but we aren't developed very much in this questions.

A lot of people doesn't know what are the necessities for the parrots. They aren't know what they are eat, they aren't know that they play, that they have an intelligent, which them makes very sensible in everything. The people doesn't known all of this.

The linnies, like you named them, we know them like Barrados. The reproduction of this bird...is...is thing very dificult! Are a special and particulary bird.

And the Pyrrhuras, they do not know them. A minority of people known of what is a Pyrrhura.

A lot of people are obsessed only in Greys (because they talkin of course...) and Araraunas (because they are spectaculars and easy to handle, when they are babys of course..). Exists few pets macaws adults in Spain, the majority of macaws does not even turn the 2 years.

Well, I am criticizing a little to my country, jaja. But is the truth.

For that reason, I would enchant to me to know the aviculture in others countries, because surely that I learn many things.

Well, thanks for everything! I hope to speak more with all you!

I'd say aviculture in the USA, Sweden, and Australia is probably pretty decent or even advanced... however, here in the USA we have an overpopulation of pets (birds, cats, dogs, cows, sheep, chickens, horses, fishes, etc) that there's also a lot of animal abuse because it's so easy to get an animal.

The USA is OVERWHELMED by rescues of various types... for dogs and cats, to birds, etc. From my understanding this isn't so in other countries.

Hopefully, with education, and responsibility, things will improve for pets around the world... but it'd definitely take time!
