hello Iam vrey new at this computer and birds...

Hello,,,I have a firend who has a parrot (I think conure) hes pretty green.Anyway she is moving and can't take her with them. She said I could have her as my own except i know absolutely nothing about parrots. She says hes a biter and hes about 15 to 20 years old. I have children in the house and that worries me a bit. Can he be taught at this rip age to not be a biter. Hes very pretty and he talks to me. She told me that the owner before her talked to him alot but since giving the bird to her he hasn't till I started going there. I have taking a real liking to him and he to me,,,except I want to know what I may be getting into. I would reaaly appreciate any help you could give me.I would even llike to do the chat thing. Lovingly helpless...

Maybe talk to your friend and see if you could do a road test and have the bird stay at your home for maybe a couple weeks to see how things turn out? Ask her what she feeds him, how often, what she gives him, what he likes/dislikes, etc so you can be more prepaired when you care for him. If things work out, maybe you could keep him, if not, help her find hima good home!

Am curious though if maybe you could tell us what type of bird he is??? Or atleast describe him as in colors and size??? Would love to know!

After having the pleasure of chatting with this person over instant messaging, it appears as if this is a blue crown conure in need of a better home and someone to love. It sounds as if this conure, Herbie, is taking to this person quite well, and so IMO, this person should take a chance and take this little birdy home and give it a real place to live and a family to love! They may not know much about parrots, but they can understand that this bird is in need of a better home, and it's been offered! I hope things work out well!
