Question Intro and advice

Hi,

Simon and John from the Isle of Wight in England here.

We have baby Lutino Budgie "Chicago" we think he (we think he is a boy and the pet shop were almost sure) is about 8 to 10 weeks old he has been with us just a week. He has bonded with us very quickly he was sitting with us from the 2nd day now he will only go back in his cage to sleep. We are a little concerned though because he will only eat and drink when we hand feed him and then only from about lunchtime onwards never first thing in the morning after he wakes. He shows no interest in going into his cage to eat, we have tired lots of times but he just sits there, we have also tried leaving him in his cage a while in the morning, once he is out sitting with us he relaxes and preens himself etc. We are hoping he will slowly settle in and get more used to his new surroundings, he does have a little fly about every now and again he has found a shelf where he lands and waits for us to go and collect him. Any advice would be much appreciated.

We Had a budgie before this "Birdie" who lived out with us all the time however he was independent too going in his cage when he felt like it or playing on his play area. He talked all the time and could even say things knowing what they meant. He died of a tumor age just 2 1/2 recently he was a huge loss to us we loved him so much. The house seemed so empty without him we just could not stand it and thus how we came to get little Chicago.

What a little darling, still quite the baby. Do you know if he was fed by his parents or by humans? We are glad to have you & Chicago with us at BB! Kind regards,

Hello there many thanks for the welcome. We are not sure if he was fed by humans but I am guessing he must have been as he has taken to us so fast. He is starting to enjoy his food more we are still hand feeding him which he seems to enjoy. He flew into his cage today had some water in there stayed a while and then came back out he seems a lot more relaxed.

Thanks again,

Simon
