Newbie from Australia

HI
I am joining this Forum today because I have recently lost my 4 year old Male Eclectus through illness which has been devastating. (Vets think there was probably a problem from birth) Thought it might help to talk to some others.

We also have a Long Billed Corella who is 12 years old. He is very funny, dances and sings and is my husband's bird. With a beak like that, a bit hard for me to handle!

We have decided to get a new female Eclectus and I would particularly like to hear from anyone who may know of good reliable breeders in Queensland Australia.

I am of course again doing a lot of research on the Eckies and have been to landofvos which is great.

Also would be interested to hear of some unusual names to give us ideas for our new baby when we get her.

Many thanks

Welcome to BirdBoard!

Your long-billed Corella is gorgeous! You don't see those much in the U.S. They are pretty unusual here.

Sorry about the loss of your Ekkie.

Welcome, Bishy! I am from Brisbane, where do you live in Queensland? Another Aussie, Tracey (Vankarhi) is up near Bundy and she has an Ekkie, she may know some breeders. Sorry to hear you lost your baby.

Also, if you go to a news agent, you can get magazines with breeder ads-Aviary Life, Australian Birdkeeper and Talking Birds.

Thanks so much for the words of welcome. Yes Tiki I have been emailing Tracey, she actually lives 20 minutes from me. She is away this weekend but I am sure she will get in touch with me as soon as she comes back and I will meet her and Skye.

Yes our Ralph is funny. We have been trying to teach him to sing "Come on Aussie" for years but he made up his own version and sings "Come on Ralph"!

Yes I went to the Newsagency and bought Australian Birdkeeper but I haven't seen the other magazines yet, I will keep an eye out for them.

Thanks again.
