forgot to say hello

Hi to everyone ,

I joined last year, and have only recently had some time to respond to a few threads....perhaps not too well , but it's fun to talk to you guys about birds as they are after all a major passion. I admit to being an animal lover to all creatures - even bats. It must come from my country background and having a vet/farmer for a Dad. I live in Toronto now - in a very populated area - full of new immigrants and it is very lively, (I could do without all the construction noises however ) - but then I do have the option of stealing away to the country for that sweet air & natural sounds.

I do not own a bird - my mother has always had birds though; first finches, a budgie and now two cockatiels. I am still researching birds for me in the future, & in a sad way I know my mother's birds will end up with me eventually - hopefully not too soon. Right now I have a wylie old farm cat, who unfortunately still bird hunts - from our balcony - without teeth yet! So having a bird would be uncomfortable for both of them. She's 17 and my baby so I'm just enjoying her without prejudice.

On a personal note, I'm married with one 15 year old son. I'm an artist with a varied career - commercial & fine art. I also teach a painting class for senoirs that I love beyond all reason. One of my students has a senegal & she does lovely pastel drawings/painting of animals/birds/people.

As you may realise - I'm quite a chatterbox .... I look forward to reading the threads & responding to some....
