Hi everyone! I have just rehomed a Indian Ringneck and I've found that there isn't alot of info. out there about ringnecks. He is a beautiful blue color and his name is Boo Berry. He is very skittish about hands, but is supposed to be able to step up when he's away from his cage. I can't get him to be near without flying away. He's broken a couple of bloodfeathers and even scratched his eye. If you have any advice I'dlove it. Also, I'm the proud parront of a female Ekkie named Sammy. She's a daddy's girl and is also a rehome. Thanks Heather

Hi and welcome. I am rather new to this forum as well. I would think you would need to give Boo Berry a few weeks to adjust and take it slowly from there. How old is he and what kind of environment did he come from?

Hi again. Boo is a year old, and his birdie mom was a good mom with 17 companion birds. She was recently diagnosed with an illness and had to reduce her flock. I don't believe that he has been handled much recently. I can't get near him to get a step up. She says that when he isn't near his cage that he will step up. I know that IRNs are supposed to become wild very quickly and I'm afraid this is what is happening.

Hello and welcome to the board!
I'm not sure about IRNs but from what I've read on the board, you should give him some more time to get to know you and the new environment he is in. Sounds like you'll hafta start over with the little guy and build the trust between ya'll. Take it slow and easy, if he gets flighty in his cage just back off and talk to him, show him their is nothing to fear. Good luck, I'm sure you'll find some good advice on some of the older threads too.
