Hey Guys!

Hi guys!

My it's my first time here...I have posted on other message boards though. So I might know some people already! My name is Swati...I am studying at the university of western ontario. Last year my boyfriend bought me my first bird. A beautiful cobalt budgie named Punkh. He's about 7 months old now. He's gorgeous and full of life. Now I have no idea what I would do without him.

For a while I had been thinking about getting another bird and then just last week I went to a small store/breeder where I fell in love with the cutest grey cockatiel. I have not named her yet...still looking for ideas...its just cutie so far! She's the tamest bird I have ever seen. She already knows step up and she bends and head every time she wants a scratch and then makes the cutest purring noises:)

This place sounds like a great board....and another place to show off and talk about my lovelies:D Just wanted to say hello to everyone and introduce myself and my babies.

All my normal friends think I am a bit bird crazy..considering I have a website and message boards about them...so its great to be here with other 'crazy' people!!!:D

Ok empress, I think your place and mine are looking pretty identical My husband and I started off with a blue bugdie, Jerry, and about a month ago we got a (presumably) female gray cockatiel, Lulu. I responded in another thread about the budgies being so curious about the cockatiels. Too funny, our households sound very similar Welcome to BB!

Cool Bird Ballywood

I loved your home videos & your photos of Punkh. That is one lucky bird - quite the cage! The story of his first flight was very exciting - I could almost see it all happening, like a Buster Keaton Film (lots of mayhem) . Your Budgie may have been the quiet one but it looks as if he isn't shy now, as he walks on everyone.
I'm sure we all look forward to more photos & videos of Punkh & your new cockatiel.
I also live in Southern Ontario and one of my neices went to Western (language dept., now works for Cdn Gov't in Belgium) & my step-son goes there too (philosophy/soc. etc & wants to be a teacher).

Anyone who hasn't checked out these photos/stories/videos look in the 'signature' under her 'profile', when you click on empress's name. A lot of us newbies are slow to pick up on all the tricks - I've just figured some stuff out - just one of those people who does before reading the instructions!

Great videos and pictures - I loved the dancing Punkh! Cute lil' house Punkh has!

Punkh sounds juuuuust like my Little Jerry! I wish they could meet, they would instantly be best friends (they could be long lost twins too) It took Jerry almost a month to really figure out how to play and have fun with toys, and boy you should see him now, he hangs off the side of his cage playing and does little flips around his perches sometimes

Thanks guys soo much for saying hello and making me and my babies feel soo welcome. I am glad you enjoyed their little tricks...keeps me on my toes myself:D

Sarah I've been tellign everyone I know about your lil jerry and lulu and alike they are!...(they are already tired of hearing about my babies..I think i've driven them completely mad now!)

I love london...I am at western doing my masters..hopefully switching over to phd soon...(crossing my finger!) in pharmacology/physiology. I love it. I have been there forever it feels like...about 7 years. I grew up in a lot of places since my family has moved alot....born in india...moved to the states...lived in louisville, kentucky for a while, then jamesburg...then cranbury, nj...n finally my parents are settled in a suburb of toronto called caledon...so i get to take the kids to see their grandparents once in a while...i think they miss the babies more than they miss seeing me or my sis! :(

anyway sorry to ramble...thanks again for the welcome! hope to hear about your babies as well! I love watching everyone's movies and pics...my birds always fly over when i get to my computer cause they know they will get to see some more adorable cuties:)

Aww, my little guys are getting famous I have also driven all of my non-bird friends crazy about talking about my fids too - and I don't have a lot of non-bird friends (pretty much all of my bird friends are here ). So know that you can always brag about your fids on here alllll you want!

Does Punkh talk? Jerry is just starting to talk, he says:
good birdie
Jerry bird
what are you doing
what's up (I just heard this one today)

He says a lot of other things, but I still can't fully understand him yet. But I'm working on it, I could listen to him chatter all day long.

If you want to read about a super smart budgie, look up posts in the budgie thread from AbbeyNMommy - Abbey is simply amazing (it's MISTER Abbey, and he knows it!), his vocabulary is HUGE and he speaks in context. I have a thread about Jerry talking, there are some Abbey stories in there as well.
