Thanks everyone for the lovely welcome, now to answer a couple of questions. Yes the black cockatoos are kept as pets over here and make very good affectionate birds too from the ones I've met. They are still very expensive Monica $2000 plus sounds about right too. The ones we get where I live are actually endangered and only found around here but I only learnt this the other day when I went to our museum and read about them. we have a couple of large flocks which are very noisy just before it rains so people probably assume there are more around than there actually are. There are a few different types from the red tailed to the white tailed variety but all are stunning I think.
Yes there is going to be a huge bird convention over here but it is 4 hour drive away and entry fee is about $200 which is a shame as I think if they halved the price they would get 3 times the amount of people. I think I would rather buy another bird with the money we would have to spend to go to it.
So thats about it for now, if you have any questions about our beautiful Australian birds please ask because if I don't know the answer then one of my Aussie bird addicted friends will!!!
P

$200??? Now that is a shame!!! Black toos, from what I know of, go cheapest at 13K and up here, which is quite a lot! (and to think the prices of some conures, caiques, and macaws in Australia....) I've only seen one in person, and he lives in Hawaii... I've heard though that black toos make better pets than white toos, and tend to be less dusty. I would love to be able to find out for myself if I could!

Dear Irish..... Yeah No worries mate, you lot can say G'day all ya like but like Tiki said "Get it right will ya" none of this "Goooood day" jargon its just plain G-day or Gidday is kinda close enough

Anyway givitago (give it a go), and just for arguments sake
"Where the bloodyhell are ya"
I CANNOT believe there are countrys deleting this bit of our tourism ad. I reacon they'd better get the tourist used to us saying things like that 'cause they'll hear people talking like that everyday in the land down-under.

Hey 10 points if any of you lot over there can tell me what a "Dunny Budgie" is ... and no helping them out Aussies
