Hi, Mom. Welcome. :)
I am originally from Metro Detroit. :) We have one 4-month old Conure and are first-timers with such a 'real' bird. He LOVES to sit on my shoulder all day. In fact, it's hard to get him to go onto my finger to take him off! Sometimes he even bites me a bit harder than his regular chewing--I think he's saying "Don't take me off." How do I train him to leave my shoulder on occasion? Thanks! |

hi there,
i have a 4yr old blue crowned conure, who is just like your little guy, he is forever on my shoulder lol, he hates it when he has to go to bed but what i did was sit down with the little guy and just keep touching his tummy a little and then while doing that just go further back each time and eventually my guy would lift his leg up and pop on to my finger, i then used to put him on my knee which he loved then pop him back on your shoulder so he knows that eventually he gets back on, and wont mind sitting on your finger etc, well thats what i did, i have a grey too but he just loves hanging upside down on my finger lol it kills me though with his nails he has a really good grip huh! all the best to you, Gilly x
