Cool

Great birds.
Your Budgie is so cute - she(?) looks as if she has thumbs, with the two white feathers sticking out!
Your Pionus looks so relaxed & happy.
Careful with those pens , when my son was little he bit the end off & the ink went everywhere & it might be toxic. I read somewhere that you can give them the empty outer tubes when the pens are finished.

Do the two birds get along or do you play with them at different times?

I always thought Sunshine was a boy???? I've never heard of a female having a pink cere when fully mature... so I'd assume male? (once had somewhat of a debate with a 'pet psychic' over her "female" budgie....)

Glad to see you here! Hope you enjoy it!

That's intresting I was told by the worker at the pet shop I got her from that pink nares mean they are female and blue means they are male. lol. Thanks for the info. I shouldn't take thier words though. I'll probablly keep calling her a her.

I usually take the ink out but I was too excited to take pics to remember to take the ink out.

It's funny you should ask if they get along. I don't take them out at the same time but I let Kei hang out on Sunshine's cage and they were being so cute yesterday I decided to open the cage door. He went in and made himself at home, eating her food, drinking water, and playing with her toys. She came and ate with him for a while then she tried to scritch his head and Kei didn't want her to so he ran away.

I put Kei in his cage and take her out and she flies around but if she lands on Kei's cage he chases her away.

Monica:

Isn't the cere on a male budgie a dark blue? I thought the females cere was pink.....

Pink either means a young budgie, or a mature male that is an ino (lutino/albino), heavy pied (clear pied), or possibly a recessive pied... Pink NEVER means female uless it's only a chick! People often times think blue means boy, pink means girl... but that's not the case in budgies! Think about eclectus, we once thought that the males and females were separate species!!!

Saying that blue means boy and pink means girl yet further destroys any possible budgie owners from being able to visually sex their birds, because as females mature, they normally obtain a white cere, with varient amounts of blue on it, then as they mature, their cere gradually changes to a tan or brown color, then normally to a crusty brown...

This thread ought to explain and show examples of what I mean...
