Hi from Texas

I've been reading the posts here for a couple of weeks and decided to introduce myself.

I have a cockatiel named Kirbi. I purchased her from a breeder in 2002. She has been a complete joy for us!

I have also put a deposit down on a Timneh African Grey!! The breeder said it will be the end of July or beginning of August when I can pick him/her up. I have researched for a couple of years and decided on a TAG. I think I have decided on the name Coda, but that still could change. My daughter will be going away to college in August and figured this would be the best time to finally add a TAG to the household before I get too old. I just hope Kirbi doesn't get too upset by the addition. She is very attached to me!

This is a great forum and I have enjoyed reading the posts and looking at everybody's bird pictures!

Cockatiels & Greys seem to be a common 'thread' here. Not that they're friends but that they're possibly a natural progression.

I too am interested in getting a fid - I help with 2 tiels. TAGs & CAGs are up there in my wish list. As I'm older I've decided to wait until my cat passes away & approach a rescue to learn handling & care of a larger bird + adopt thru them. Of course I'd love to get a baby & enjoy that part too, but I am worried about the time that is available - I think you now what I mean.

All the best with your new fid - post photos of your tiel & the baby when it arrives.

Welcome to the community! Pull up a keyboard, grab your favorite snack and read away. As you have already seen, there is a ton of great information and some great people that frequent the forum.
I like the name you have chosen for your grey. I am trying to convince myself that I can't live without one also. And then I go into the bird store and find another little face looking up at me wanting to come home and have me cater to their every whim. So it will be a while before I add to my flock.
You'll have to keep us up to date on her progress. Did the breeder give you any pics yet?

Thanks for the welcome! This is a great board. I'll try to get some pictures posted soon. In fact, I just received a picture of the baby TAG today from the breeder!! The breeder is Wendy's Parrots in Weatherford.

I also have a tiel its name is Daisy but its a male....(lol)
Didnt know if it was a male or a female at first but later I started hearing whistles of him. I tried to change its name to something else but it only replies to Daisy now. Oh well...
