Another Newbie....

Hello everyone! I am a new parrotlet mommy and I need some guidance. I have 2 baby tiels and 4 wild tiels. The babies, I handraised myself and I am so proud of them, they are so big now!

I got my baby parrotlet today. I'm having some trouble feeding him. He deffinately has food in there so I guess thats why he's not eating, but Im not sure how exactly they eat. Im used to the "raptor" baby tiels but this baby is waaaaaaaay different. I know they dont eat like baby tiels, and I know I have to feed even more slower and more gentle than feeding tiels. So if anyone could give me a few tips Id very much appreciate it!

As for me, Im a cat person TEE-HEE! I know...I know. But my hubby is the bird person here, and I just LOVE all animals so I have tiels and 5 parakeets, 3 cats and my new parrotlet. I'm not new to birds and bird care of bird precautions, just parrotlets. I fell in love and I had to take him home with me. he's still kinda naked, but VERY cute.

As for my cats, they dont even look at the birds anymore, they are very used to them, but I still never leave them alone . Here in Houston the climate is excellent for birds so they spend alot of time outdoors with me. But when it gets rainy (like today) they have their own room to relax in.

anyway I work from home so Im always here with all of my dependants and live happily with my Hubby.

Welcome to Birdboard!! Do you have any pictures of your birds? I do not have any advice on the feeding, however you may consider posting the question in the ask the experts section or in the Parrotlets section on the home page, there is a lot of knowledgeable people on here that respond fast in those sections. Welcome again!!

Our Parrotlet is 1 yr old today. He was almost 8 weeks when we got him. Our breeder told us what to give him....a listof veggies etc. He will eat (or at least try) just about anything I give him. His favorites are bell pepper seeds, baked sweet potato, sprouted grain bread. He likes buckwheat seeds and oat groats. but he doesn't really care for seeds that much...he does love the spray millet.
I make him bird bread with non-sweetened corn bread mix and add baby food veggies to it. It also contains eggs food and pellets and corn kernals. He loves that!
Just try new foods, all sorts of veggies
