Hello

Hi, You all will think I am crazy. Cause I have been researching African Greys and yet to own one. My goal is to have one by March. Even though I presently do not own one, I have learned a lot from this forum. (I hope to learn more)

So just a "Hi" to all of you...

Welcome to BB! You are not crazy at all! You are doing your research and that is VERY commendable. Especially with african greys. Do you know if you are going to get a timneh or a congo>

That is a hard one. Id love to own a CAG, However I am not sure how s/he would hold up. If they are so paranoid of being introduced into a new area. I have a female yorkie who will be 3yrs old in December. Kind of scared of her even barking at a CAG, to be honest.

So im kind of stuck..Should I being looking at a baby (weaned) or a already more mature one.

TAG I have read are more open. As far as being introduced into a new environment. I dunno if its true though, it's just something I got off of a website.

When it comes down to it, either or would be loved as part of the family.

Where I live I dont know of any breeders/pet store that carrys any C/Tags. It would be nice to see how they react to different things.

Welcome to BB. I have a Cag and a Tag. Both just love my Rottie. (That does not mean they all like dogs though)

Welcome to BB! In my opinion, you can't go wrong with either type of gey.

Right way to do things

Hey - welcome to BB. I think you're doing the absolutely right thing... it's important to do your homework so you have an idea of what you're getting yourself into. We approach everything that way (which results in a library on fencing, fish, golf, parrots and conures... )
However, I've seen too many people rushing into an idea that sounds good at the time and then realizing later on that it's too overwhelming - which upsets me quite a bit, especially when it comes to animals since they then end up being given away
So, thumbs up for you!!!!

Welcome. Your not crazy, your smart! As everyone said, to many people get birds & don't do research. I did alot of research. Most of it was on Love Birds & I ended up with a Sun Conure, , but I still did research. I wouldn't trade my babies for anything. I've heard Greys are excellent birds. Crystal
