1st Time Posting

Hello,
I have been absorbing this board's information for several months now. Back in June we put a deposit down on a b&g baby at our local pet shop. That girl died around 12 weeks at the store-they believe from a fall during the night and she aspirated her crop contents They had another b&g baby, this one turned out to be a boy but the more I learned and researched, I just didn't feel comfortable with how he was developing.

In July, I sent pictures of him to a breeder on the Internet that I felt was reputable and would give me some advice (at the time, she didn't have any babies available and I felt if she responded to my email, she was truly someone who cared about these babies) She responded immediately and said that this boy was "seriously stunted" and not to purchase him.

We are now on our third b&g baby and I think it is safe to say, "third time's a charm." She is coming all the way to VA from CA and we have named her Kopi. She is 14 weeks old this weekend, we expect her sometime next month! My family has been preparing so many months now for this event that our breeder told me to stop buying toys, she said we had a 3 year supply

While it has seemed like forever since we first started our search for a b&g baby, I believe the value of time has better prepared us for our new family model with a macaw. We've only experienced parakeets till now, big difference in feet size

This weekend, my kids (daughter 19 & son 16) & I are traveling to NJ to check out the Parrot Palooza and get some last minute shopping in. Our breeder sent Kopi's food list today!

My appreciation to everyone who takes their time to provide information and support here. While it may feel you have been giving the same advice over and over again, you never know when new eyes are reading and making decisions based on what they find here. It certainly has helped me make the best choice for our new family member!
