Hi. I am new here. My name is Kristy. I recently acquired two previously owned budgies. They are keeping me busy for sure. I have had them about two weeks. Their names are Skye and Meadow. The biggest challenge so far has been getting them to eat a balanced diet, as they were previously only on a seed diet. Reading online, I am noticing this is a common problem, especially with budgies. I have noticed if I clip anything high up in the cage, they will try it and eat it if they like it. They like carrots, they love any kind of bread, I tried a whole wheat wrap and a piece of cinnamon raisin bagel, and they devoured them both. They'll pick at bell peppers. I have tried giving them everything I am eating. They also love avicakes, and will beg for more when they are gone. I am trying to get them to eat pellets, but I am not being very successful. I came here by searching for bird recipes, so I have a couple I am going to try.
Tonight the girl, Meadow, was flying around the living room, and she flew into a wall. She was being quiet for awhile, but is being more active now. I will keep my eye on her. Unfortunately, we don't have an avian vet nearby

, but their is one vet that I think will see them.
Thanks for reading, hope to talk to you all soon.
Kristy
