My first tiel was a handraised one, and she's such a doll!!! Her best buddy is Noel, my cherry head!

My second tiel, which I rehomed after 6 months, was a whiteface split pied male, and as gorgeous as he was, and as lovely a song he had, he didn't get along well with my cherry head! Needless to say, I know he's quite happy where he is now!

I have more recently taken in a tiel family, the parents being wild, and their son talks. The 'kids' are okay when away from the cage, although Kirby is a bit of a jeckyl and hyde type of bird!

Have also rescued a female tiel, Tomi Girl, and although she was probably more for 'looks' than anything, she has tamed down quite a bit after being so near to death (people who found her in their yard nearly starved her to death) and doesn't mind being handled, although she doesn't care for companionship so far from the other tiels.

So, all in all, whether or not you get a handraised tiel, they are still wonderful companions! Congrats on the budgies and new tiel once you pick him/her out! And welcome to BB!

Welcome to BB, Barb! I have a pretty little 2 year old albino parakeet named, Star. You can see her in my signature. Parakeets are a joy to have around! Congratulations on the new babies! You'll love it here, everyone is so nice!

Thanks for the warm welcome here at BirdBoard!! I really do like it around here! Everyone is so friendly! I finally had time to take some pics! I hope I haven't posted too many I kind of got camera happy! They are pretty parakeets and wanted to show you several of them! We still haven't named them. They are doing very well. The blue & white one is more calm, gentle and easier to handle. I was told that the blue & white one was a boy. He is already letting me hold him on my finger. The yellow & green one is a female (so we were told) & she is more frightnened and doesn't let you freely touch her. She has let me rub hubby chest a few times though. Hope you like the pics!

You have beautiful budgies - and there's no such thing as "too many pictures" I don't blame you one bit for wanting to show off your lovely new babies!

I agree with Monica, they look to be young but their ceres are already quite blue - definitely could be two males

They are lovely - babies are so cute - I bet my Laker was adorable when he was little too. I'm beginning to get a little jealous of you guys with babies.

I really like the marbling effect of the Pied birds. No wonder so many get flocks of Budgies. They look like boys to me but I don't have as keen an eye as Monica. Will it matter to you? At least you won't have to worry about babies.
