G'day
I am 26 just finished Uni. and live in a country town in Victoria Australia where quite a few of my family live. I have a house and have two uni. female students share the expenses which works well. I help a rescue where many birds are brought in hurt or just not wanted anymore (makes me very annoyed) I have Sulphur Crested Cockatoos and Galahs in two huge averys built by many volunteers where any sick or disabled Galahs and Cockies can come and rest and be helped and in some cases go to good homes but all well cared for and given time and affection. I still have one Galah who inisists on sharing the house with us but can come and go whenever it wants.
I am working part time with a Vet. and it is the best while I wait for my new full time position as Park Ranger becomes available as the Ranger is retiring and I am over the moon at the opportunity to work for and care for the animals. I would really like to be a vet. and had aspirations but some of the work I am just not cut out for. We all have to know our limitations. anyway thanks for allowing me to joiin your new board. Jim. |

Re: G'day
Welcome, I have always wanted to visit your beautiful country, one of these days I will. Congratualtions on finishing the University. Good luck on becomming a Park Ranger. I imagine your birds are beautiful, it must be awesome to live where they do and to see them in their natural habitat.

Re: G'day
Thanks for the welcome mate. You have a good place here so now all it needs are a few more people. Sorry about your Moderator but maybe he will not let a few disagreeable people dictate to him and return.
Won't mention another Board's Name but because the two Uni. girls living at my house used the computer and my ISP (they cannot afford a computer of their own) and just use mine which is fine with me (and in fact I think Marissa used it just the once whereas Jan. used it a couple of times) as they have a Budgie and Cockatiel so also enjoyed the bird board people carried on I was trying to write as a female so I have never been back. It is often done here in Australia so we thought nothing of it and in fact it was my Aunt who initially went to the Bird Board and even she used the same ISP so to me I was annoyed people would take umbrance at this being done. Hey it is not a crime now is it? Many husband and wife and kids teams use the one ISP and seems o.k. Anyway just thought I would get that off my chest. We have Kangaroos en-masse here who come into our yard every evening at dusk and early morning. I buy deer pelletts for them and we have many Sulphur Crested Cockatoos and many Galahs eat here every day along with all the Rainbow Lorikeets and Rosellas and many more variety of birds. I can maybe help anyone with questions regarding Galahs (Rose Breasted Cockatoos) and Sulphur Crested Cockatoos as I have said we have a couple of dozen in huge averies in the garden all recuperating - some from dog attacks or rotten people or cars or even fighting amongst themselves on occasion. At the moment Magpies are nesting so people have to walk the road with sprays of leaves or wear sunglasses back to front lol etc as they swoop but because my roomies and family and I feed them (by hand) they do not swoop us. We feed a couple of Kookaburras by hand also and they give us great bursts of laughing as if in thanks. Anyway time for me to go feed the crew. Thanks for reading |

Re: G'day
Just off for the day and went outside to get the car and there was such a big flock of Black Cockatoos flying over our place and I also realise how lucky we are as we live as if we are in the fish bowl with kangaroos and Koalas and all manor of birds etc looking at us as we are so far outnumbered.
