hi...

My name's Mandi... as the username. I'm 18 and have owned birds since 13, when I got my Yellow naped Amazon. Now I have my Amazon (Mugsy), a Green cheeked Conure (Loki), 6 budgies (Bendix, Chancey, Thor, Olive, Saiba and Anamy), a cockatiel (Cinden), a Quaker (Charlie), and an Orange Weaver finch (Kolibri). Mugsy, Cinden, and Charlie are second home. Loki I hand fed and raised. Bendix and Chancey are the parents to the other four budgies, who were hatched earlier this year. Kolibri is handicapped in that he has only one foot. In the next couple weeks I will probably be bringing home 3 more handicapped budgies (2 attacked by a rat, and one with what looks like he got his wing broken in the nest) and 1-2 female Orange Weavers for Koli.

Now that that's out of the way... I think I know a good bit about birds, and I promise I'm not always this serious! Nice to meet everyone :)

Hello Mandy and welcome. That is so sweet taking in handicapped birds, that can get very challenging.
Good Luck with them and please post pics!!

Re: hi...

I don't have a camera, I just moved!... But I have photobucket! I'll get you guys some older pictures... and I hope I know how to post them onto this forum... here I go! I hope they're not too big... and that these posts are edit-able... hehe.

Loki and Cinden... ignore the mess.. this was just after we had moved the first time!
If that worked, I'll post more pics in another reply....

Re: hi...

Mugsy, the love of my life!

Charlie.. he really likes to tap on shiny things. I just moved him into a new cage earlier today and the first thing he did was tap the new silver dish!

Loki on his favorite swing.

The first attempt at letting Cinda meet the budgies... Thor and Chancey ganged up on her, she just hissed at them. :)

A cute picture of the three (mom, Bendix, blue; dad, Chancey, yellow/green; and oldest son, Thor, green) before the little sisters were born.
And....

The "little sisters", left to right, Saiba, Olive and Anamy. Olive is oldest and I had named her before she had feathers... and she turned out to be the only green one! Saiba and Anamy look EXACTLY alike except a white stripe down Anamy's tail.

Sorry so many... I'm sure you understand ;)
I don't have any pictures of Koli since I got him after I had moved.

Re: hi...

Wow Mkay! We do have the same birds! I've always wanted a Pionus... a Maxi mostly :)

My Quaker tries so hard to befriend my Green cheek... but Loki always chases him off. It's funny to watch, since the Quaker is bigger but he gets the worst of it. Poor guy. hehe!
