New friend from Washington State!
Hi! I found a link here from craigslist. I live in Washington and used to work at Petsmart for 2 years. While there I managed to accumulate quite the zoo. I have 2 dogs(a cattle dog and a corgi)... Both rescued. I have 4 kitties, an 80 gallon fish tank, 2 different lizards, 3 horses, some chickens and the most evil rooster ever. I also managed to get an incredibly smart cinnamon cockatiel. It was kind of a funny story, my manager and I thought her and a cagemate had avian bordatella. So my baby and her buddy were back in our treatment room and since I was working 40+ hours a week I was always taking care of her. Eachday when I was in there I would talk to her and whistle and such and she started picking up my whistles incredibly fast. (she would learn a new whistle in about 15-30 minutes.) I was going to adopt her for free but then we took her to a different vet who ran tests on her that proved she didn't in fact have avian bordatella. I still had to have her, she was/is my baby. I handfed her and took her to most of her vet visits. So almost a year later she is doing BETTER than anyone originally thought she would, She knows many different words/noises and she loves country music. Her vocabulary consists of such words as "hello" "step up" "me"(when prompted with "who's a pretty bird?") and she can do the wolf whistle, coo like a dove, click, along with alot of other noises. I let her wings grow out so that if she somehow gets out when the dogs are in she can fly to a safe spot. But anyways, This site seems like a great one and I will tell some of my other bird-lover friends about it too. :D
