Slainte - New from Arizona
Hello Everyone,
Was directed to the board by Lisa B (Thanks Lisa!) My name is Beth and I'm just outside of phoenix arizona, I share the house with the following human people. My husband who I shall refer to as "That guy whose pay check is spent on bird toys." or "Steve" and our two daughters Emerald who is three and Aria who is 15mo's. The non-feathered members are our two devon rex cats "Bug" and "Ger" together they make "Bugger" or as we call them "Oh bugger" and one maine coon mixed rescue cat. We also have a Fila Brasileiro (Brazilian Mastiff), Three ferrets named Smith, Jones, and Saxxon (Any Dr. Who fans?) a ball python named Rosemary and a as of yet unnamed hamster. The feathered members of our flock are Phoebe/Fiona - Known as "Fi" "Pheebs" and "Crimson Terror" she's a female solomon island eclectus. Her original name was Fiona and I started calling her Fi which turned into Pheebs so despite my husbands protests her name is Phoebe. She's a bossy little thing that tolerates my husband but bestows her love upon me. She isn't a very demonstrative bird when it comes to affection but it's there if you know what to look for. Rafael - "Rafe" "Green Goblin" "Doormat" is a male vos eclectus who lets Pheebs boss him around without mercy. He's quite smart but tends to be reserved and very mellow compared to the red head. Omlette - "Omi" or "Super Chicken" is a male miligold macaw. He's my husbands bird all the way and merely tolerates me as "that person who fills my food bowl." He's got a major attitude but can be cuddly on his own terms. Quiche - "Q" "Keeshcaw" "Chica" "DW" - The baby of the family, an 8mo old greenwing macaw female. She's the love of my life and is definately my bird all the way. She's an extreme cuddle bug and helps (in her view anyway) with all my household chores. Today we welcomed a 5yr old female Congo African grey into the family. She doesn't have a name yet but we're working on figuring out what she'd like to be called. We were told she has scoliosis which causes one of her feet to face sideways instead of forward but she can walk, climb, perch just like anyone else. She currently doesn't like anybody and if I go near the cage she lunges at the bars. Hoping that once she settles down and isn't so stressed that we'll be able to make friends. She was fed on an all seed diet and seems a bit scared of her toys so I don't really know how she was housed before we got her but I do know that we are the 7th family she's been to and will be her last. Hope to get to know you all in the future :D You can see pictures of everyone here Parrots pictures from birds photos on webshots ~Beth |
