Another New Member!

I am so tickled I found BirdBoard! It's a very pretty website and I am just amazed at all the great photographs of everyone's fids. My photos are always blurry because I can't get my guys to hold still!

My avian zoo consists of one umbrella 'too (Joonie), two cockatiels (Skyler and Daisy) and a 29 year old Timneh Grey (Sammy) with an attitude. I can't get a word in edge-wise when I'm with them. And it's no use arguing with them because I am out numbered.

We all live in tropical Pittsburgh PA and are marveling at the unusually warm weather we are having. It's almost Christmas and here I am in a T-shirt and shorts (don't be making fun of my boney ole bird legs). My skis are gathering dust. But I am not complaining. We are not getting hammered like the folks in the Northwest with all those blizzards.

Anyway, it's great to have found this forum and I am very much looking forward to making new friends here, reading about your fids and learning new and exciting things about those amazing birds!

RUN while you still have the chance

um ... Welcome to the Birdboard, btw ... and ahh, before you run away please do tell us all about your flock. I especially would love to hear about Sammy as that is where my heart leans towards, Greys.

Blurry or not, we all love pictures so post away.

Howdy to all!

I'm going to try to upload two photos of Sammy. :)

The first one is when we first brought her home two years ago. Sammy's guardians had passed away of natural causes....yes, Sammy outlived them.

And the second photo is now, December '06. Sadly, I think her guardians had been very sick at the end, the wife had died first, then the husband. One of Sammy's imitations is that of a very ragged, painful cough. At first I thought Sammy was sick, but when she coughs, she always says "There now, darling, are you okay?" Sammy may not have been getting the attention she needed, but I am doing everything I can to make up for it. I think her feathers look healthy, I love the subtle colors, the little hints of brown mixed with the dark greys.

(Hey, I did it! I uploaded the photos! How cool!)

Ah, now I am gonna turn into an uploading maniac

Oh dear, this is just too much fun.

Okay, this is the only photo I have of Joonie that is in focus. Out of 120+ tries. But I am really happy with this shot. It is the essence of Joonie, when he's not acting like a goofball.

Does Sammy say this & cough in any particular instance? - do you think he relates it to affection/attention? That nearly brought tears to my eyes - it reminds you of his experiences.

Both birds are very handsome & the photos are perfect.

Hi & Welcome!
