ruby is actually probably a male. with the ino and pied varieties it can be hard for ome people to tell but a purple or pink cere can actually mean a male... I say this only because males are more likely to talk then females

i am responding to an article that i have read on this board in regards to "natural medicine" for your pet. too many times ive seen too many people lose a good pet to a belief that natural medicine used as the cure or as a supplimented remedy.for instance today we almost lost Zippy, our budgie to a fall that caused severe bleeding. through the use of flour and a little pressure we managed to get the wound to clot.ti was at this point i was willing to let him go because a hefty vet bill was out of the question. we decided to let nature take its course. we are all here to share both our pets and ourselves and appreciate any and all input. thank you John White aka Zippy

hmm... well...
why exactly do you have these animals if you aren't willing to pay for their vet care?

You should never take on responsibility for an animals life if you aren't willing to be responsible whether that means skipping your monthly shopping trip or not. If you cant afford the vet bills you cant afford the animal.
Maybe from now on you should set aside money for an emergency vet fund just in case. Budgie vet bills can get very expensive (I'm feeling it right now with a temporarily diabetic bird) if you arent willing to take responsibility to keep your little buddy alive just because he only cost you 20 dollars, maybe you should find him a new home and get a goldfish?

Sorry if I sound harsh, I hate it when people treat keets like they aren't living beings just because they only cost 20 dollars to begin with.

People do it with any animal, even goldfish should be taken care of properly. I mean, the only reason we have had animals put down was because they had cancer and disease spread throughout them and it was either let them live in pain with nothing more to do or put them to sleep instead of let them suffer.

Anyways, Welcome to Bird board!

i appreciate you support alot. thank you. we bred budgies many years ago until my mother passed away. but, we learned about death the hard way and learned to deal with it. this site is to express thoughts, ideas and opinions and perhaps not to put down their own beliefs when you are not aware of the persons whole history.

i wasn't putting down beliefs I was simply stating that if you aren't willing to take responsibility for somethings life then you shouldn't own it.
it's that simple

and yes i feel the same way about people who let their children die of the flu because if that's the way it is then that's the way it is. that's silly. You shouldn't be allowed to take responsibility for something you aren't going to take responsibility for.

ive watched my mother die for 2 years and accepted death for what is, granted for any pet i do whatever it takes. a small animal is no less important than a large one. they integrate into our families as a family member and we care for them as such. i enjoy your input and views because input from others allows us to see a picture from another persons view. thanx again!!!!!
