New member here.

Hello everyone,

Seeing as how there's a board dedicated to introductions, I thought I'd post mine here.

My name is Moo (nickname that even my parents use). I'm a 28 year old male from the DC metro area. My experience with birds is limited to primarily parakeets and I found this board while searching for a new pet bird. My new apartment allows birds but they have to be pretty quiet, so I was hoping for some recommendations.

Anyways, glad to be a part of the community and I look forward to chatting with all of you.

Welcome to Birdboard!

It's hard to find a quiet bird...they're just loud pets! I also live in an apartment with my CAG, and have had no complaints thus far. She has a loud and annoying beeping noise that she makes on occasion, but other than that, when she's making noise she's talking. But I know most people wouldn't recommend grey's as apartment parrots....its really just the individual bird and how lucky you get, IMO! My tiel who is 1/4 the size is louder than my grey!

Your tiel just looks ready to scream in that picture of yours .

I realize birds are loud so I'm going to talk to the office management on Tuesday to see what exactly will be tolerated. Their noise rules, on paper, seem real strict. How they enforce it is another question.

Welcome to BB Moo!

I recommend a Parrotlet, they're teeny, they can learn to talk, they're cute, and they're quiet! lol

I dont recommend a tiel, my male Zeus yells soooo loud, the neighbors can hear him 5 doors down.

I have to agree with Liz in everything she said! Parrotlets are quieter than Cockatiels to boot. I have 2 parrotlets as my first birds and have recently adopted a CAG. If you decide to go with a Parrotlet, find a good breeder if you don't want to go the adoption route. :)
Good luck in your search!

Welcome "Moo".... Curious as to why whomever nick-named you that? I would think that would be a girl's nickname.

You know, cow = female. Moo cow = female.
