Hi Everyone

Shelley from No Calif here. I lost my double yellowhead of 32 years last Wednesday. I noticed he was sick and within about 2 hours, he died. A very nice person suggested I come here. I looked around this site a bit and you seem to be a great bunch of people.

Welcome to BB! Sorry to hear of your amazon, but if you don't mind me asking, do you know what he died from?

I don't know. He was fine, then he wasn't. He'd really never been the slightest bit sick a day in his life. I expected him to outlive me. His name was Doc; he might have been a she, I don't know. I keep expecting him to be there in his empty spot.

I'm sorry to hear. The only way you may be able to know is if you took his body in for a necropsy.

What are your plans now, though?

Shelley, Welcome! You might want to sterilize Doc's cage and toys and put them away for awhile. Since you had Doc for 32yrs with no problems, at some point, you might want to consider fostering a bird that is being rehomed. You probably have a wealth of knowledge to share and would be welcomed by any rescue or bird club to help out in the rescue or foster a lost or abused bird.

I don't know for sure. I'm somewhat driven to take in the homeless. I have the necessary equipment and tons of love, so ....?
