I don't really know many people who keep, let alone breed, moustache parakeets/parrots... He sounds like he was very well loved! Sadly, it's by some of our own mistakes that we must learn just how deadly some of our things daily can be... that we'd otherwise take for granted.

I wish you the best of luck with your coming too! I'm sure you will take excellent care of 'it' once it's home!

We don't have bird rescue centres in NZ for parrots, but then again there are not a huge amount of Too's either due to them being so expensive, so you have to really think about it before you committ.
I do realise that it is a life long commiment and have researched carefully (which is what lead me to MYTOOS) I have read the good, bad and ugly and have spoke to cockatoo owners and owners of other large parrots to get their views. I feel they have all be honest and with me and I have made an informed decision. I have recently lost my companion parrot whom I handreared from a day old chick (due to mum rejecting him)and the void is tremendous. He showered with me, went camping with us etc, he was a fourth child in our family and though we can never replace him we can love again.

well that's wondeful that you've done all your research and you've went so far into all this. i was just saying that its a big responsibility, but it definitely sounds like ur up to the challenge!

i never meant that you were incappable, but i still actually like the site. if you're too afraid to ask questions about it, then you're not that devoted just because one site says no. that means you've read the negatives and you know what you're getting yourself into and yet you still want to take the magnicifent dive into owning a 'too. (not meaning you, just in general)

Yes I agree with everything you say. I just tend to get upset easily if people cyber yell at me (lol) They have never said that I should'nt, they just make you feel that it is impossible to do it as well as them. But in saying that, I posted there, I listened and I am still getting one so I suppose I am "TOO" material!! I do like the site as well for its great Too keeping info , you just have to really think before you post, take a nip of Vodka then read your replies.
