Talking Hello from GA

Hey folks, as you can all see I am new here and I am awaiting the arrival of my new beaks, one is a one year old Congo African Grey (Paco, might try and change that name) and a two year old Severe Macaw (Petey, might try to change that one too), and MAN I CANNOT WAIT!!!! In fact tonight I found a home for my 6 foot long Boa Constrictor (dont want my birds gettin heart attacks if they see him) he was great when he was young, everybody handled him all the time, but now he just scares the bejesus out of my wife and children, besides someone I know will privide him a good home and I can visit him when I want.

Right not I have a Conure named Stimpy, he is a mix of a sun conure and I guess what they call a Dusky Conure, I dont know. Either way He actually looks like my Severe Macaw but in a conures' body lol(same coloring) We love that little bugger to death, but I am afraid that he is going to get jealous of the new birds, he will still know that he is our baby, as time goes by I will post pics.

I will be spending this waiting time getting set up for our new arrivals, building a new room, getting cages, birdproofing the house......etc. they will really be set up in some nice digs when I am finished, and if anybody in here has some good advice about the birds PLEASE DO! tell me. Thanks, LMB

Talking I changed my mind!!

Yes folks I changed my mind, instead of getting the Severe Macaw I am getting a six month old Blue and Gold Macaw named Hannah when she is weened which she is doing right now so it wont be long. The main reason I changed my mind is that I do believe that a bird chooses his/her owner. I have had the good fortune to put these birds on layaway and I and my wife go and visit as much as we can. The CAG has warmed up to my wife and that is really workin out for them. But everytime that I try to handle the Severe Macaw she is very standoffish towards me and has bitten me several times. But when I got near the Blue and Gold she wanted to be on me and handled by me every time, and hasnt even threatened to bite me at all(just a real sweetheart) The man that is selling her told me that that is the furthest he has seen anybody other than himself get with her. She is real tame I gues since she is hand fed and he spends a lot of time with her, and I feel real comfortable with her so that helps. I hope/think that I am ready for such a large bird, we will see, lol.
So if anybody has ANY info or usefull advice I sure would appreciate it.

I will upload some pics as soon as I can.............LMB
