New member - want to rescue African Grey

Hello Everyone,

I'm new to this board. I am in the Houston, Texas area. I would love to have an African Grey but do not want to speand $1,000 if I can rescue one in need. If anyone knows of an African Grey that needs a safe and loving home, please let me know.

Thank you.

Karen

Welcome to the board & good for you, wanting to rescue. Try looking on craigslist for your area & local classifieds. Hope this helps.

Just remember that a rescued bird often will cost much more than a newly weaned chick. It is very rewarding but often very expensive.

Curious

Can someone elaborate on why a rescue would be more expensive than a baby? Are you talking about vet care, or therapy?

vet bills, issues with behavior, new cages, toys, getting them to accept a new food...

it adds up. In my area right now on craigs list is a 6 m/o CAG for 650.

how I want it so!

I am the loving mom of a 19 year old absolutely wonderful Grey named Jeremy. I am looking for a loving home for him with somebody that can spend quality time with him. He basically needs rescuing. I am a single mom of 2 and unfortunately can't spend the time with him that he needs. He has started feather picking and needs somebody who can spend lots of time with him. I am absolutely heartbroken and cry even as I write this. I am more than willing to help with any expenses associated with his adoption. My e-mail is richnow66@yahoo.com. I would love to hear from you.
