Hello to all, new member here
Hi everyone, my name is Denise. I am the proud (and sometimes frustrated )owner of a female Umbrella Cockatoo. She will be 10 years old on April 25th. I got her from a very reputable breeder. I went and visited her from the time she hatched and couldn`t wait to get her home. Now, 10 years later, I`m still trying to figure her out !!! She began to lay eggs about 2 years ago. She recently laid 2 last month. I`m not a breeder and have no interest in it, but imagine my surprise to come home and see an egg in her cage. She is very loving and affectionate. She is so routine as well, I mean she has a schedule and I had better stick to it or she let`s out the loudest screech you ever heard. She must be uncovered early in the morning and taken outside. At 4:30 pm, she must be brought back in, given fresh food, water and her cage covered completely. If I dare to skip any step, she will scream until all is right. She sleeps in the garage at night because she insists on darkness and silence. Anyway, it`s a very unique relationship we share. I look forward to meeting you guys and sharing info and stories.
