London, UK - hen-pecked by 2 green-cheeked conures and a Senegal. Just to bolster the number of Brits on the map...

Unhappy Hi! My name is Alice

I'm from Kilgore, Texas, USA. I lost my beloved Blue and Gold Macaw over a year ago. Jo Jo (his name) lived with my husband when I met him. My husband had really purchased him at a pet store on a whim. He had not planned on getting a bird and knew very little about how to care for one. We live on a fifteen acre little farm with lots of dogs, cats, horses and a pond with ducks. Jo jo was clearly the dominate animal. Originally I was afraid of him and so was everyone else. Jo Jo didn't seem to mind. He was intertained by the other pets and the occassional shreik when someone didn't notice him first. (I read they love drama) Every person who visited our home including myself and three kids were frightened of him. For whatever reason I began researching that specific bird and working with him. We developed a very special bond. I liked that he was independent and could take care of himself, didn't need too much attention but loved our play time. As long as it didn't interfere with his own desires. He was special. If I had known something might get him, I would have kept him inside at night. Even thought he was a pain I miss him terribly and think about him most days. I have been slowly and carefully looking for another bird. Not a baby,I want a bird that has to re-homed. I really want a blue and gold for the exact reason some people don't like them. I like that he cranky but loved me his way.
