Hey from San Diego

I'm here in San Diego. I have two birds currenly on lay away. A brown-headed parrot (for my daughter) and a Severe Macaw for me. I have owned a few different birds in the past (conures, african grey and g2). I can't wait to pick them up, but hubby says I have to wait until we get back from Florida mid-April. He's probably right as the brown head is a special needs baby. He is missing a few toes and needs a little more care that a sitter probably shouldn't be left with but I have been wainting for quite a while and am growing really impatient. I know I know good things come to those who wait!

Well, I finally got my babies over the weekend and I am absolutely thrilled!

So far things are going good. My severe seems to be very attached to me. When out of his cage, he will not be anwhere else but on me. If I set him down anywhere he jumps right on to my chest and clings for dear life! If my girls want to hold him I have to be out of sight otherwise he just looks for ways to get to me. The other night my hubby and I were having an issue and I being a little emotional at the time (okay, maybe alot!). The severe started screaming. It's funny how the bird picks up our feelings. I have never noticed before with any of my previous birds. I guess I'd better keep mine in check from now on!

The brown head is doing great as well. Seems to be a little brave for his size. He is not at all afraid of the severe or anything else for that matter, it seems to be the other way around, go figure... but I can't seem to get him to eat any of the veggies I have been putting in the cage every evening. He wont even go check them out. He likes to pick just the papaya out of his seed mixture. He seems to be eating the seed now that the papaya has been all picked out and I havn't refilled. Any suggestions on how to get him to eat anything else?
