New to the board...
Hi, I'm a new member of the bird board and I stumbled across it when I was searching online for a few answers, so I signed up. I have a male cockatiel and 2 lovebirds whom just had 5 eggs and 4 hatched. They are about 2 weeks old and seeming to do very well. I do intend on keeping the babies, and I realize a new cage is in order for the near future. My concern is.. when the babies are old enough to be separated from the parents it dawned on me as they grow older what is the likeliness of them mating with each other? Obviously i'm going to get them sexed at some point, but what are chances that voluntary inbreeding occurs? Is it instinctual that they know not to breed with each other, or do they just pair up regardless? Does anyone have experience with this? I have absolutely no interest in breeding anymore birds- this current clutch was a surprise. My lovebirds are not hand tamed and I don't have the time to do so. My cockatiel is hand tamed and is plenty of work already. I would appreciate any advice with this matter. Thanks!

They pair up regardless... and it can have dire consquences for the offspring of related parents.
BTW, welcome to BB!
