Hi everyone. I stumbled upon this site today and am very impressed. I'm looking forward to spending some time on here.

About me: I live in Green Cove Springs, Florida, which is in the northeast part of the state, near Jacksonville. I'm married to Joe and we have five kids at home, ages 8 to 20. We have four birds: two female cockatiels (whiteface and lutino pearl) who aren't tame, a Quaker we think is male, and a male Tucuman Amazon who is driving us bananas. The Tucuman is the one who has been driving me to search out all the bird info on the web that I can find. In addition to the birds, we have two dogs (an american eskimo and a dachshund), three cats, three tanks of tropical fish, and a koi pond with assorted koi and goldfish (and a bazillion mosquito fish).

I've had birds in my life off and on since my first parakeet in 2nd grade. Over the years, we've had a Patagonian conure, a Goffin and Umbrella cockatoo, a Congo and a Timneh gray, a Sun conure, and various parakeets and cockatiels. I gave up my birds back in 1998 when I was going through cancer and was birdless until my husband was given his Quaker last year. That started the bird bug back up and I just had to have an Amazon after seeing so many comical Amazons over the years. Unfortunately, he isn't adjusting well and I'm really trying to figure out how to handle him.

This seems like a great community and I look forward to becoming more involved.

Hey, my parents live in Jax. We were in Green Cove Springs in January to see the light show.

I saw your other post about the amazon. I have no advice but I hope that you can resolve the issue soon. Good luck.

Thanks for the welcome. Hmmm...I'd have to say he's a screamer, a biter, and probably hormonal too. Lucky me! I'm typing today with a big chunk missing from my finger and yet somehow I still love the little monster. Guess we bird people are a little crazy. I've only had him since January and he's been like this since about two weeks after I brought him home.

It's nice to meet you, Julie. I agree with you about bird people being a little crazy!
