I currently have a 10 year old DYH Amazon named Sisqo. He has liver disease (due to my parents being ill-informed of his dietary needs), and is on medication and specialized pellets for it. He's a good, laid-back kind of guy and isn't quite your typical Amazon. Yes, he gets hormonal, and that's about the only thing they have in common. lol. He knows a few phrases and is actually pretty quiet for a 'zon.

I've recently received word of a BFA female (not DNA sexed though) that is in need of a new home. The story behind this poor girl is just dreadful. She is estimated to be 9 years old. Her first owner used her and several other parrots for 'parrot fights'. Similar to cock fights, but with birds. She was rescued from him in July. Her condition was so horrible, she is missing a few toes, her beak is in absolutely horrendous shape, and all she had been fed for her whole life were sunflower seeds. She is not holdable. She won't even step up on a dowel. Her current owner thinks that she was also beat with sticks and hands. When she sees either coming near her, she freaks out and runs away. Well, my familiy and I are going to see her on Sunday to see if we will be able to take her in. There's a lot more information I'm sure, but I guess that's enough to get started.

Welcome & kudos for wanting to take in that poor little bird. I can't believe she was treated like that !
