Hi Stephanie,
Kudos for running a recue. It's sad that we live in such a 'throw away" society that when the novelty wears off or the animals "get mean" (really being living with people who didn't do their homework or work with their animals properly) they just are gotten "rid of". Thank God for folks like you. Frank |

Very sad
I really love doing what I do but it is unbelievable what some people will do to their animals. We had a tegu mailed to us during an ice storm with no real packing except for one afghan blanket. The phone number on the box was fictitious, the name was not real, but the address we tracked down. It was a place that deals in breeding lots of reptiles and they claimed it wasn't theirs. The only problem was the inner box also had a return address on it and although different that the main label it was the owner of the other "store". The tegu was malnourished and had a large infected burn on teh top of its head. As far as the birds we have rescued. The main ones with health or psychological problems was an African Grey with all of his chest feathers and part of his other feathers plucked off, he had a vitamin deficiency and boredom. Then we have the macaws that the female needed surgery and the male screams and screams if she is away from him!
Thanks for listening to me ramble on! |

Hi Stephanie...
Welcome. I think it is great what you do. People can be so terrible. Thanks for taking care of those that no one wanted. Hope to hear more about you and your birds. I know you will like it here. Regina |
