Smile fertile eggs?

Hi - I am new to this post and was wondering if anyone could give me a possible reason as to why my lovebird eggs are not fertile? My bird is still sitting on them but it is past hatch date for 3 out of the 5. I am keeping my fingers crossed for the last two but am not too hopeful. They are both healthy eatters and have the appropriate nesting box and materials. does anyone mist their eggs if they live in a dry climate??

Welcome to BB! How old are your prospective parents? Is it their first clutch?

Red face

This is their first clutch. I am unsure of both of their ages. The first bird lovebird (girl) I actually got from the humane society and they didn't know her age. It was thought that she was a young tike at the time. I have had her for about three years. She started trying to mate with about any and everything in her cage so, I got her a friend. I know that Lionel her new friend is fairly young maybe about a year? The breeder thought she was selling me another bird and didn't realize that she had actually sold me Lionel until the next day when she went back into her bird room. Anyway he could be around a year of age. Or possibly a couple of months younger. She knew why I wanted him and didn't seem to think breeding them would be a problem. Lucy the girl is much more happy with her friend then before.

Dont take the eggs away yet, my loves just had their first clutch, 8 eggs, only 2 hatched, they were way over due, i think encubation is relative to time spent sitting. my hen didnt spend the required time sitting, so they were late and only 2 survived. but they are doing good, i live in dry utah, and didnt mist my eggs, so that may have contributed to my problem also. if you ask these questions in the love bird forum, the experts will give you lots of help. read my threads, "ok heres the story" and "pulling chicks" in the love bird forum. the knowledgable folks answered all my questions there. if you read those threads most of your current, as well as, your future questions are already answered there. dont give up on your eggs for a couple more weeks, that will give her time to get bored with them, and move on with her life, and it will give the chicks a full chance at birth. also, are you sure of the sex? if you have to hens you will also get infertile eggs.
