Hello from England

I've just joined up...no idea how to post pics yet. I've got to find where everything is yet.
I've got a small set up keeping and breeding finches, mostly Gouldians,Hecks and Stars.Started as a kid in the fifties, and have kept birds on and off ever since.I specialise in parent rearing and only use Bengalese(society)finches in an emergency for fostering (very rarely)
I've got a few Green Cheek Conures mostly as hand tame pets.
Looking forward to making a few new friends, when I find my way around.
Cheers.

You did it!!

Wow they are all beautiful, hermosos!!! Are finchies that fun? Alot of ppl have them but they use them for breeding. Can they not just be pets? I have read some threads were some people had finchies tamed like parrots.

I know a few that have raised them as pets. But the breeding of finches seems to be more popular than in the states.I notice over there a great interest in parrotlike. We have loads of breeders over here of tiels, conures, etc. And parrots are just as popular as pets. But the keeping of finches, especially Australian seems a lot more popular.
Cheers...Paul.

Hi Paul! Very nice to meet you!! I am from Southampton originally but have been in NZ for quite a few years now. I have a few hand-raised finches - the two in my avatar are Guinea and Ambrose who are 5 year old zebs and still as tame as when they finished seeing me as mum! I have heaps of zebra finches but also breed several other varieties including Goulds. You are most welcome and I look forward to chatting with you!

All the best,

Heather
