Hello All!

Hello, My names Matt. I live in Western Washington. Im an Apprentice Falconer, but thats not the reason why im on this forum... Id like to know more about parrots and domestic type of birds, mainly because my girlfriend (also a falconer) has a parakeet and a budgie, and i think they are great! Ive been trying to convince my mom to let me get a pair of Parakeets or some other species, yet have no avail yet... Anyways... pet wise... i have a dog, Beagle/JRT mix, named Rascal, who recently turned one year old, his birthday was 6/6/06... not kidding... Ive had 3 gerbils in the past, i recently had a pigeon which i trained to fly to me (that pigeon has actually gone back to my falconry Mentor, or sponsor). Ive been around many speices of birds, and have always been facinated with them, but Birds of Prey, by far have my attention.

Nice to be here!
Matt

Heres a picture of myself, and a friends Red-Tailed Hawk... if you dont mind my posting of:

Welcome to BB! What a beauty; I'm sometimes lucky enough to see a hawk in flight, but rarely at rest!

Wow I love that pic of you and think it is so cool that you are a falconer.

Red Tail Hawk is my absolute favorite. I have alot of Red Tail feathers for my Brush Dance regalia.....(Native American dances)

Totally cool.

Cockatiels are great lil birds too. They are sweet. Loaded with personality.

Congrats on getting the green light for the keets.....

Hi-Love your pic with the RT Hawk-we have several wild here in my neighborhood and, ocassionally, one will perch on fence or the telephone wires above it and both the yard birds and my tiels on the porch will go bananas!

Before you run off to buy some budgies-read up on the differents kinds of budgies and other small parrots that might be little birds with big personalities.
I look forward to reading about your foray in pet birds!
