Smile Hello from snowy Western New York!

Hello! I have 4 tiels - a Papa and his three chicks who are 8 months old. We lost the Mama the day before the first egg hatched. :icon_cry: Rico, the Papa did it all! Of 7 eggs 3 hatched and he fed them and cared for them with little to no help from us. There are two males and one female. So far things have been calm although I have noticed that they are making the 'feeding' noises like when Rico first fed the chicks. I've been adding different things to their diets to be sure that they are getting a balanced plan but wonder if you find this strange? It doesn't seem to be any particular bird but it does happen now and again in the last 3 weeks.

Looking forward to meeting many other bird enthusiasts!

-Carol

Welcome

Hi Carol,

I am east of Rochester & right up by the Lake Ontario - great to see a little sunshine this morning! I had a similar situation where the female died leaving the male to raise the babies - he did a great job - they are so committed to the chicks.

This is from cold (for Florida) but sunny. I just joined as well. Sorry to hear the mama died but papa tiel sounds like he is being a single dad and doing well.

Wow - I don't think I have ever come across so many locals on one board before!

Welcome Western New Yorker! From one to another.

I hope your little man takes good care of those babies.
Post some pics if you can.
