Hi Everyone!

I am new to birdboard. I just got an 11 mo. old Congo Grey this weekend. This is my first parrot and I am really excited. It hasn't been dna sexed yet but we are calling it, Issa. Issa came from a pet shop and was used to alot of different birds and people being around so I am sure it is going to have to get used to less action and noise being around. I have one question which I hope someone may know, Issa has been sleeping upside down from the top of the cage at night. Is this normal? I don't know what keeps him/her from falling off at night!

first off! WELCOME TO BB!!!!

well that is the first time i have heard of a grey doing that. does "he" have a perch that is easily accessible?

I'm sure some of the Grey experts on here will chime in. good luck!

Thanks, I have two wood perches plus one that is shorter and made of something like concrete. Issa stays on the wood perches most of the time during the day, but at night she hangs from the top corner like a bat !

It can be normal, I have had conures hang from the top of the cage,, what a nutty bird.. Just offer different kinds, and heights of perches, he/she will find one that is comfortable, if he/she wants to change.

and welcome to BB I have never heard of a grey sleeping upside down. They like to play upside down though. Try adding some rope perches also. They usually like to sleep in the same place every night and if you have one of them up toward the top of the cage leaving enough room for him/her to stand on without touching the top they will probably pick that one to sleep on.
