Hi from Wales, UK

I'm Anna, a self-professed budgie nut. Just dropping in to say hi and give just a quick little intro to the mad mad world of me :)

I'm currently living in West Wales with my 4 kids, my fiance and a whole menagerie of animals and birds.

I have always been fond of budgies, since when I was a child and my granda had a tame one called Joey. The bird always amazed me with it's cheery attitude and antics.

When I lived in Norway I used to breed budgies and cockatiels on a hobby basis and I used to sell them to the local pet shops. It was THE most fun I have ever had. At one point I had 38 budgies and 17 cockatiels!! I even converted one of the rooms in the house to a bird room. Sadly my eldest (18 now, 5 at the time) developed a major allergy to the birds and I had to quit.

I moved to Wales about 9 years ago and dreamt of being able to start up with my birds again, and it finally happened. I have my own aviary in the back garden, and my son is even able to control his allergies in regards to the birds we have indoors. I breed the budgies on a hobby basis, just the pet types, never had too much interest in the show type.

So now we have around 30-40 budgies at any given time in the aviary, one in the house (he's the king LOL), 2 hahns macaws that I adopted a couple of months ago, and my 6 cockatiels.

We also have a bunch of other animals: 2 dogs, a hamster, some fish, a gecko and 4 guinea pigs. Yep, I'm totally nuts!

Anyway, that was supposed to be a short little intro, but as always, I can never do things by halves

Take Care!

Anna

Wow,two people from the UK. I think the first two I've come across on here. Croydon isn't too far from me...I'm Crawley.

There is a breeder of hahns near here. I'm very much considering a hahns after reading so many good things about them.

My Hahns are scary LOL, well at least one of them is. He's still scared after being with us for the past couple of months, poor thing :(

His favourite thing is biting me and he will even fly over to me purely for the sake of having a bite. Thankfully the other one is starting to get a lot calmer, confident and a lot less scared.

I have a couple of videos of them on youtube if you're interested. Same username as here.

Good to see I'm not the only Brit here :D

Hahaha, I love the vid with the box. Such sweet mumbling and giggling to themselves.

I wish Lily would bath like Bonnie, but she just refuses... so it's a mist bottle for her. She doesn't enjoy that but it has to be done, I just tell her no stinkers allowed.

I started off with a spray mist for Bonnie and Clyde. Took ages to get Bonnie to even look at the water in the sink. Now he absolutely loves it and Clyde is starting to follow suit :)

Love the youtube vids Anna, especially your tiel and budgie meeting!
I mainly spray Chirpy for her bath although she hates it. Recently discovered she likes to be taken into the bathroom whilst my other half is showering and she can then bathe in the spray!!! It's very cute but I get soaked with him directing the spray at her and her splashing it all over me!!
Blimey Xen, Crawley is close, didn't realise there was anyone so close! Do you know of any avian vetsnearby? I've tried looking but no joy. We could do with going for a check up.

LOL, Chirpy sounds like quite a little character

I spray mist most of my birds, but a couple of them do actually prefer to bathe in the bird bath. the Hahns are a totally different story, I now have what looks like a dog food bowl for them in their cage and they absolutely love it
