as far as the shop not letting you put a deposit down ask them can you pay off buy week for him? most shops will and it will mean that you may not have him fully paid off for by the time you go on holidays, that or have you some one who could keep him for you for the couple of weeks your away?
i don't think they want to take part payments they look like they want a full sale. there's no one that i could ask to keep him for me unfortunately so I'll just have to hope that he's there when i go back. i just hope he goes to really good home if he's not there he's a sweetheart.

Hello to you in Ireland! My relatives are from county Cork. Even my Congo Grey thinks he's Irish, :))

I hope you can get that adorable little fellow.......it sounds like you have a bond with him already. Best of luck and keep us posted.

hello Catherine j, i've never been to cork but i hear its lovely. I'm nearer Belfast where all the trouble used to be, thankfully its all over now pretty much. i have been to the U.S a few times I've been to New York and Philadelphia and spent a lot of time in Wilkes-Barre PA (i was once engaged to a resident there, it didn't work out) i loved the states though and the people are so friendly and the food oh my heavens the food, i still have cravings for a butterfinger every now and then.
who knows maybe I'll get back over for a visit some day!

I am in Pennsylvania and am about 5 hour drive away from Wilkes Barre. If you are really nice to me, I could send you a butter finger...lol

Hey just letting you know, thats bull about him being too hard to train. I bought my green cheek conure parent raised at 6 months old and I tamed her. It was alot easier than I thought. People told me there's no use trying to tame a 6 month old parent raised green cheek but she is the sweetest thing! If he is hand raised it'll be a piece of cake!

i thought that myself, every time i go to see Ike after the weekend or if there's been a few days between visits then he's a teeny bit nippy but after 5 minutes he's his usual snuggly self so i'm hoping it wont be too bad. lets just hope he's still there when i get back.
i have another question though i've got 2 (well 3 if you count the dog) children a boy who's 2 and a half, a baby girl who's 8 months old and a cocker spaniel. would it be too noisy busy here for him to be happy and would he be ok with children?

Noise wouldn't be a problem, I don't think. And with your children, as long as they learn how to properly handle and treat the little guy, I think you could make bird lovers out of them. I have a 8 year old niece who my sun conure just loves. It is all about making sure that everyone knows what is okay and what isn't. The Ike will need to know what is appropriate with the children and vice versa.

Good Luck ;)
