Hello from wales, UK!
Hiya. I'm Trish from South wales in the UK. Great to be here. Am enjoying looking through the site. looks like a nice, friendly place to be and would like to thank you for having me!
![]() I was given a proven pair of green cheeked Conures about 2 months ago. I hadnt kept birds for a good few years though as a child we always had Budgies and I loved them soo much. Birds are such intelligent little characters. Lola and Rico, our green cheeks were very territorial when I first got them and at 8 years old I wasn't too sure whether they would ever "get on" with me and other humans. they were given me by my friend, who though loved them, found that she was unable to give them the attention that they craved. i am pleased to say that within just 8 short weeks they are totally different birds. They have accepted me totally and have become very fond of me and the rest of the family. I am using positive reinforcement training with them and both them and me are totally enjoying learning together. i am so happy with them. To think that 8 weeks ago these two would even allow anyone near their cage without lungeing at them! Anyway, I mustn't keep on now, but just to say that I think soon I will need help and advice on hand rearing chicks, lol! They have produced clutches every year since my friend had them but Lola, though taking care of her eggs, neglects the chicks unfortunately. I have been studying up on hand rearing avidly and am going to give it a go. Lola and Rico mated about a week ago so who knows...LOL! Thats it! Must dash! thanks for listening!

Trisha, welcome to the Board. Those Green Cheek Conures sure are cute little birds. I will love to hear if they give you an extended family. Keep us posted on your possibly growing family.

Thank you Tom. Yes, they are wonderful birds and I truely wouldn't be without them now:-D Funny thing is when I took them over I thought they were Maroon bellies, well that was what my friend thought as well. Now though, after a breeder pointing it out to me, I believe for sure that they are Green cheeks. I told my friend and she still refuses to believe they aren't maroon bellies, lol! I must post a couple of pics to get others opinions:-)
