Howdy Roy and welcome to Birdboard. I have 10 assorted parrots, mostly BG macaws and they are the most fun you can have sober.

Hiya Roy!
Gratz on the new addition and welcome! I am a new Bird Mom myself of a Green Cheek Conure and also live in No. Ga.
There's lots of great information here and plenty of willing help when you have questions!

That it HILARIOUS! I am new to this part of the animal kingdom, but we are excited. I have always wanted a bird but just never was in the position to have one.
My 13 year old daughter, two dogs and a pygmie goat keep us busy out here..

Thank you! What made you decide on the GC? I am just curious..
we had some friendly experiences with the Sun's through a friend and just thought they were beautiful. I am concerned that my family will complain if the bird is noisey, but I have prepared them for the possibility. Is your GC a screecher?

Hello Roy,
You will find so much info here on Sun's. They can be noisey but somehow I have been blessed with one that keeps to a dull roar.

Roy,
Actually....my GC was an impulse buy. We were in the market for a bird(s) and were researching finches and canaries. But as it happened, on my birthday and we were looking at the birds at Pendergrass Flea Market, there was a poor 5mo GC in a cage with no tailfeathers. His cage-mate had plucked them out. After spending a couple hours just holding him, talking to him and looking imploringly at my mate, I brought Jacobi home. He's very quiet really, a lot of squawks and murbles...once once in awhile does his "borneo bird" imitation. (think national geographic). I fostered a CAG for a year a long time ago, so I was familiar with parrot screaming...and knew it came with the territory, so it was a rather pleasant surprise. We live near Dahlonega out in the rural part so having a noisy bird wouldn't have been a problem anyway.

Suns are absolutely georgous...and I believe the best talkers of the conures. Jacobi has the ability, but he has a "donald duck" voice that you have to listen very carefully to hear.

Glad to have you aboard, and I look forward to hearing about how your new baby settles in.
