Smile Blue and Gold

Hi everyone, I'm a proud new parent of a 5 month old female b&g. Her name is Coco and she is an absolute joy for my husband and myself. Although Coco is perfectly happy to be with either of us, she tends to be a little aggressive with my husband when I am holding her. Is this common? I will have a lot more questions to post in the future but for now, hello to all and I look forward to listening and sharing.

Tammy

Thanks for having me. I've just posted a photo of my baby. I think she is just beautiful. What do you think?

Most birds, unless extremely well socialized do tend to prefer one person. Zach, my BG is completely my bird. He will tolerate my boyfriend but given the choice would have nothing to do with him. They're like two kids who don't really like each other but know they have to get along so they try to, just to make me happy :aiwebs_01 If Zach is perched on my shoulder, and Guy gets too close, Zach fluffs up and starts picking at my shirt. He's never bitten Guy or me badly (i'm very lucky because he was a rescue) but he's definitely my bird and lets Guy know it loud and clear.

It seems as though Coco wants to be with me constantly and is unhappy when she can't. When she is with me all she wants is to have her neck and underneath her wings scratched. She will sit very calmly and make a growling type noise. The noise she makes sounds like she is thoroughly enjoying it.

She does like my husband and my two daughters and doesn't give them a bad time unless they are coming to get her from me.

I honestly believe that it depends on the bird. And how you socialize them. Allegra is a rescue and prefers only me. But Bogart loves both of us because since day one we both handle him. If you both constantly handle him I believe he will grow to love you both. Differently of course but he will love you both.
