Aww he's cute and looks cheeky.
How do you get them to stop pulling? I've tried harness, Halti and now choke chain on halk check but nothing works. Sam's in his terrible twos atm. Took him over the fields today for the first time since xmas and he loved it. Currently passed out on the couch. (won't let me bath him tho so had to put a blanket on couch first)

ok, this may sound mean, but it works. Corbin has pulled for years and I've tried everything. Last year I started something new and it works. I carry a small water bottle with me. When he starts pulling, especially when we walk by other dogs, I show him the water bottle and tell him I'll squirt him. If he continues to pull...I squirt him. This didn't take long. One walk around the neighborhood and he stopped lunging at the neighborhood dogs.
Something else that works when he's just pulling when I walk him. He knows if he gets far enough ahead of me for me to see his butt, he gets a little wack on the behind with his leash. It's worked for years. If he gets too far ahead of me, he stops and looks at me as if to say, oops sorry. We can now both enjoy our walks. This has worked for me. Sorry if it sounds too harsh, but I'm a big baby with him...and a little squirt or small wack on the butt makes for a well behaved Dalmatian. You know how stubborn they can be. |
