Post Hello from San Diego

Hello all. My name is Krystyna and yes I'm new here. I recently (4 days ago) turned 34 and am a proud girlfriend to my orange winged/yellow crowned Amazon parrot. We've been together for 34 years

He has fallen ill although. I found him in the bottom of his cage last week, weak and dehydrated. I took him to the vet and he is recovering remarkably. His right foot is swollen and stiff. It's not warm and not cold but I'm concerned about it. The vet said he was dehydrated and his white blood cell count was high. I was also told that he had liver damage. I have moved him from his cage to an aquarium for his safety because he wants to climb and is weak and his poor foot:/ My dad doesn't know how old he was when he bought him but I'm guessing 40ish.

I am ecstatic however to still have him in my life! He is perking up when I come home from work and is eating plenty of fruit and nuts.

I am not a vet, no member of a message board can substitute for a visit to a good avian vet in the case of potential health problems
